Baby Bottles - How To Choose
  1. Consider the "time factor" associated with baby bottles. A fair amount of time must be spent organising for baby bottles and teats to be sterilised and then the right amounts of formula to be added
  2. When bottle feeding your baby it's important to consider wind problems your baby may get. Choose your baby's bottle wisely and do a lot of research into the teats, the shape of the bottle and the type of formula you are likely to use
  3. Think about using baby bottles that are wide necked as they are much easier to both clean and put baby formula into
  4. Make sure the baby bottle you buy stands upright, as silly as it sounds
  5. Make sure you are fully versed in the various teats and nipples that are available on the market. Although latex is softer and thus perhaps easier for a newborn to use it will break down and there are perhaps safety concerns regarding latex. Silicone teats are the best option, they are Bisphenol A (BPA) free, are very tough and will not break down. Learn more about BPA
  6. Note the different nipple shapes and features available: preemie, round top, orthodontic, flat-topped, traditional, nipples that elongate, and one-piece nipple and collar sets
  7. When starting out with a baby bottle always use a slow flow teat, you could try a variable flow teat when your baby has become and expert on the bottle
  8. Get to know your baby bottle accessories
  9. Know your baby's bottle and be conscious of how easy or hard it is for your baby to grip, for they come in many shapes
