Most teethers and dummies on the market look like they are safe, but many of them still have a major problem. Little plastic teethers, usually a soft, plastic filled circle with water and cute patterns, are mostly made from a plastic that has potentially dangerous chemical properties. Vinyl plastics, called PVC, can have nasty additives called Phthalates. These are hormone-disrupting chemicals that are used as plastic softeners, which make teethers, well, so yummy to your baby.
